Red Dwarf - USA style

For all those Red Dwarf fans out there - prepare to laugh. I guess the USA tried to do a version of the British Red Dwarf and it's so funny! I guess there were two pilots...The Cat changes from the first to the second. Kryten is the same actor - why he agreed to do it, I don't know. Anyways have a lookse and see what you think. I just put the first parts of each different pilot on here, you can always look at the others on YouTube if you want.

Enjoy!

The second one wouldn't go on my blog so I just put the link.

Birthday Bliss, Tractor Pull, Kiara and My Garden!

Hi!

I've been very naughty and haven't blogged in FOREVER! Heaps of cool and exciting things have happened since I last blogged.. The weather is beautiful and warm - sometimes too warm. It's different because it's humid here...i'm enjoying it though. :-)

My BiRtHdAy!!!

I guess the most exciting thing is that I had my 19th birthday last week! It was one of the best birthday's ever! Seth surprised me a few weeks ago with an awesome birthday present...a 1996 Oldsmobile Bravada SUV!! He like just drove home with it....and said "Happy Birthday Honey!" I was speechless...I was like "you can't be serious!". It was a fantastic and fun surprise.

My SUV is sooo pretty and in really good condition. It's black and is an automatic which is nice! It's really cool it has: automatic windows, CD player, electric seat adjustment, 4 cup holders, funky little lights like in an aeroplane that you can shine wherever you want, automatic 4WD, a really really roomy backseat and the backseat folds down, a large boot (truck), leather seats, tinted windows and other cool stuff..

Here are some pics...

Isn't it cool!!!
Anyways...on my actual birthday my sister-in-law, Jean, took me shopping to a horse shop because I was looking at getting a saddle. We didn't just find a saddle though, we got EVERYTHING I needed to ride a horse! Guess what colour most everything was??

So...we got
  • a 15" barrel saddle, it had been on a horse twice and it was heaps cheaper because of that! It fit's Beauty (the horse) fantastically!
  • a purple blanket
  • a head stall/bridle with awesome purple glittery diamonds
  • a bit
  • a breast plate that matches the head stall
  • purple riens
  • a belly sinch...it feels so cool cause it's neopreen
  • a purple halter
  • a purple lead rope

Everything looks awesome and I love it!!

When we got home from our shopping trip Seth and I went for a ride! It was really really fun. I loved it! I can't wait to go riding again. After than we went to Seth's parent's house and had a cookout with hotdogs on sticks and smores...mmmm...chocolate! It was a great day!

TrAcToR pUlL

A few weeks ago Seth and I went to a tractor pull. It was cool. It's basically suped up cars and tractors pulling these huge weights as far as they can. I couldn't beleive the black smoke that came out of those things!!! We had some interesting guys in front of us....they all had a bit too much to drink by the end of the night. The tractors were soooooooooooo loud!!! I was so glad I took ear plugs...

KiArA

Kia is going fantastically well - you can't even see the limp anymore. she looks a bit stiff in one leg but that's it! She's so silly and can be very naughty at times...hopefully she'll grow out of it! She's growing like a weed I can't beleive how big she is! Hopefully she continues to heal and will get completely better.

My GaRdEn

My Garden is growing like crazy! We have beans and peas ready. One of my tomatos is turning red and I have little tiny capsicums (peppers) and cucumbers growing. It's so cool to see it grow. I'll post some pics another day...I took pics a month or so ago but it's grown so much i'll need to take more so you can see how big it is... The corn Seth's parents are growing is taller than me!! Today I need to get my beans and peas ready to freeze because the other day we picked a 5 gallon bucket full of beans!

Anyways..that's all I can think of to post about. I'll try my very best to keep upto date! Love you all!

An Update!!

Sorry everyone for taking so long to let you know how everything is going!!

Things are going well I think. The way Kiara behaves you wouldn't even know she had broken her leg (apart from the limp). We decided to try and let the leg heal naturally - mainly because the surgery would have costed $2000-$3000. She seems to be doing really well - only she wants to run around and play like she did before. She gets around really well - she's even really really naughty sometimes and jumps on the lounge when we're not looking. I don't think she's in very much pain which is really good - she was given two different medications, she's off one and i don't think she'd be concerned if she went off the other. During the day she stays in her outside pen because she LOVES to be outside so she prefers that to her crate and it restricts her movements. I watch her sometimes - she's either sleeping or listening to the birds and other animals. The first few days after she broke it when she was inside everytime i'd let her out all she wanted to do is go on walks and lay ouside so she's been much happier spending the days outside. So everything is going great!

hmmm...what else... the garden is growing so well!! Everything looks fantastic. One the tomatos we have at our house has a little tomato on it...it's so cute...i'll have to take a pic of it. It's very exciting...I check on it everyday to make sure it's ok. lol. The weather has been beautiful and warm, with lots of rain so everything is soooo GREEN!! It's sooo pretty.

I finally tried american Cadbury Chocolate! It's pretty good - not as good as the stuff at home but it's perfect to sastify my cravings.. mmmmm chocolate!! I rekon next time I come to visit I'm gonna bring heaps of lollies and chocolate home. lol. Stock up!!

Something else really exciting...one of my friends from school, Ashlee is coming to visit in August! She is going to be working at a Summer Camp in Michigan so we're going to pick her up from camp when she's done. It'll be so cool. I'm totally excited!

Hmm that's about all I can think of right now... anyone that hasn't already seen it should go and check out an ultrasound of my neice/nephew on my sis-in-law Zarna's blog.

HAVE A FANTABULOUS DAY!!! KEEP SMILING!!!!

Bad News

On Sunday morning...just as we were about to leave for chuch our little kia landed badly and broke her back leg. Thankfully Heather (my sis-in-law) was here and she's a vet tech so she was able to help us decide what to do. We took her to the emergancy vet and they gave her some pain medications and took an x-ray detirmining that it was broken. We had hoped she'd just dislocated it...but oh well. The break is quite high so they're unable to put a cast or bandages on so we can either let it try and heal naturally or have surgery and have plates and pins put in. We will need to keep her movements to a minimum for about 8-12 weeks regardless of which way we go. She's in alot of pain but the meds help and she's kind of docile. She actually sits still when you pat her. Lol. Much worse things could have happened so we have LOTS to be thankful for!

Videos of Kia

HI!

Pete's awesome video's of the kids inspired me to figure out how to post video's through you tube...it's actually very easy. So I took some videos of my beautiful Kia.

This first one is her sitting and then lying down on command. We're still working on it but she's getting pretty good.

The second one is Kia playing with her milk bottle...and me yabbering on in the background. She is such a silly puppy.

Enjoy...I shall have to post some more video's later...

And we're back in the game.......

We're back online!

We got a new computer a few days ago which is awesome! Its a compaq presario with vista. It doesn't seem to work too differently than XP which is nice. Its so good to have a computer and the internet again.

Hmmm...lets see what's been happening since I last blogged. The snow that we were having the last time I blogged melted in like 3 days which was nice and we have been having absolutely gorgeous weather. It's been sunny and warm. I have even worn a pair of shorts!!

Kiara is growing so much! She got desexed yesterday - it definately didn't slow her down...she is still as crazy as ever!! The info sheet we got said we need to limit her activity....no jumping, running etc... so far...we havn't managed to prevent that. She is wild. I can get her to sit and lay down on command so that's really really exciting. Now i'll have to focus on some other things. She is so heavy. I can't pick her up for more than like a minute...esp. if she squirms. Now that the weather is warmer she spends alot of time outside...she seems to enjoy that.

We are going to have a joint vegetable garden with Seth's parents at their house a short walk away. I am really excited to have fresh veggies. We are planning on growing...sugar snap peas, snow peas, green beans, cucumber, brocoli, cauliflower, capsicum and tomatos...and maybe some others...who knows. It'll be fun.

I have been going to work with Seth most days. I am trying to conquor my fear of heights and i'm slowly getting using being up on the roof...as long as it's not too tall. I just don't like getting near the edge. That's the scary bit....and getting up and down...but I am detirmined!

Not much else has been going on...just routine.

Yes...We are alive!

Hey Everybody!!

Just wanted to do a quick post to let you know that we are still out there. Our computer is being evil and won't work for some reason. We tried reformatting it and it's still being subborn, so we haven't had a computer for about two weeks. My mother-in-law was kind enough to let me use her computer so I could check up on everything.

We finished maple syurping a few days after we started..and surprisingly we got quite a bit of syrup for the short time it ran. It tastes heavenly...it has a really nice smokey flavour to it - it's great! I'll have to post some pics once we get our computer back online.

Kia is going really well and growing like a weed. We are taking her to vet today to get her second puppy shot. She is such a sweetie...even when she tries to bite my hands off.

It is snowing today and looks like every bit of winter. It is blowing really really hard and there is a covering of snow on the ground. A few weeks back we had a weekend of GORGEOUS weather - like 26C - it was an awesome day to spend outside... and then it turned really really cold which was a shock to the system after that nice weather. Oh well...it's just given us a taste of what's to come. I can't wait till summer!!

Tonight we have bible study, Seth and I have helping run a neighbouring church with the youth bible study. It's really awesome to be able to have the opportunity to make a difference in someone's life.

Anyways...not sure when we'll officially be back online..but you'll know when we are..lol.

Love to you all!

Maple Syruping and other stuff

HI!

Seth and I have been collecting maple sap from the maple trees this last week so we can boil it down to make real maple syrup! I took some pics to help explain the process. The first time we came to the USA we were able to try some - it's really good...just ask my Dad. It has a nice smokey flavour to it. It is soooo much better than Golden Syrup.

So..first you have to drill a hole in the tree and then tap in these plug thingys. Then we attached a can or milk jugs to the thingys. The trees drip out a clear sap. Usually on a good day you can get about 1 US gallon (about 3.8 Litres) from each tree.

Then, each day you have to collect the sap in buckets and carry it upto the house. The sap runs best if it freezes at night and gets really warm during the day. It's not very sweet at this stage.

After collecting the sap, it needs to be boiled down so it can become syrup. It takes about 50 gallons of sap to make one gallon of syrup so it takes a lot of boiling. As it get boiled more and more, it becomes sweeter as most of the moisture is evaporated and the sugar is left. You light a fire in the drum and it heats the pans with the syrup in them on the top. You just keep topping it up as the syrup evaporates

I'll have to let you know how it tastes once it's finished boiling.

Kiara is doing really good! The first few nights were rather a trial. The first night we put her in the bathroom and she scratched the door and whined all night. Then the second night we put her in her crate...and she whined all night... at least when she wasn't sleeping. I was getting up at least 3 times a night cause I was worried she needed to go out. Anyways..the third night...in a desperate need for sleep and after reading about countless others on the net with the same problem..we let her sleep in our bedroom floor. She did soooo much better. I guess she just needed people. She usually only needs to be taken out once and doesn't whine at all. She has her toys in there and usually creeps under the bed although im sure she's not gonna fit very long. So yea..we're able to get a full night's sleep.

We have only had a few accidents...cause I wasn't watching her like a hawk. She loves to chew everything including me, just like all puppies. She's a real people person and loves to cuddle and play with you. She loves to be outside, explore and go on walks.

She went to the vet the other day for a check up and her first shots. The vet said she is really really healthy and everything looks good. As a part of a puppy package we bought I got the clicker training book and some clickers and she seems to be doing really well with it...even after a few days....and she loves treats. She sits all the time by herself so I think it'll be pretty easy to teach her to sit on command. I just know that I want to train her now, while she's small enough to handle...cause we don't really want a full grown lab jumping on people. lol.

I took some more pics on her cause she's such a cutie!!

Chewing on one of her toys.

Chewing on her bottle. She LOVES it! She can chase it around the house for ages!!

Eating..see how her ears almost hang in her food lol.

With her stuffed dog...Ted. She loves him.

Sleeping in a strange position.

I found this cool looking potato so I thought i'd take a pic! Potato's always remind me of Deb and our cupcake doll gas masks! lol

Seth bought a bobcat the other day. It is so cool and I got to drive it and it's so easy to drive! It's a 2002 t200..that's about all i know about the make a model etc...lol. It has heat and air conditioning and heaps of other cool stuff. Here are some pics..

Have fun!! Bye

New Addition to the Family!!

Seth and I are now the proud owners of our very own gorgeous puppy!

Kiara (Kia) Lilly Frost is a purebread black labrador retriever. We named her Kiara because it means small and dark, but im sure she won't be small for long. She was born on 18 Jan 2007 and has 7 brothers and sisters who she is missing heaps right now. She is absolutely adorable!! We had about 2 1/2 hrs drive home and she was so good - she mostly slept. When we got home, after sniffing around and exploring she started to whine heaps and look around frantically. I think she's missing her buddies. She's sleeping right now...I wore her out playing.

Here are some pics of our beautiful girl.

Bye!!!
